Registers of certificates, July 1, 1871-May 1, 1884.

These records contain a register of certificates issued upon the surrender of old bonds. The Second Auditor was required to number the certificates and calculate the amount for which a bond should be issued. These certificates were issued in amounts of $100, $500, $1000, $5000, and $10,000 on sterling 5% bonds, and as fractional certificates.

An act of the General Assembly approved March 23, 1839, provided for additional capital for the James River and Kanawha Company.
